What does research say about reading books over the summer?
"Regardless of ethnicity, socioeconomic level, or personal achievement, children who read FOUR or more books over the summer fare better on reading-comprehension tests in the fall than their peers who read one or no books over the summer."
Therefore, the Duluth High School Media Center invites students to borrow up to FIVE books of their choice for the summer!
Eligibility Requirements:
- Be a rising 9th, 10th, 11th, or 12th grade student at DHS for the upcoming 2017-2018 school year
- Return all materials borrowed during the current school year (all books due Friday, May 12th)
- Have a clean library record: all materials must be returned and all fines/lost books paid
- Return all summer checkouts to the Media Center on August 7, 2017
Student Consent form:
- Please provide student name, student number, rising grade, number of books borrowed, email address
- Please bring signed form with you to the DHS Media Center during the week of May 15 - May 19 to select your summer reading choices
