The University of Georgia Young Dawgs Program is a high school internship program designed to prepare high-achieving high school juniors and seniors for post-secondary education and future careers in their areas of interest. Students accepted into the program participate in unpaid internships on campus-in placements throughout the university- as well as in the community. The program is open to students from public, private, and home schools. Students are required to have a GPA of at least 3.7 in order to participate.
Since its inception in 2008, the Young Dawgs program has hosted 858 high school participants from public, private, and homeschool environments in over 300 different work sites. The Young Dawgs Program offers two programs- each requiring a minimum of 120 internship hours:
1) Academic School Year Program - Fall 2016 and Spring 2017 Full

A 6-week program focused on Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM). Cover letters and resumes for the Summer 2017 program will be accepted beginning October 1, 2016. Please submit them to jgeiser@uga.edu.

- What are the requirements? The major requirements for the program include the student to be a junior or senior in high school, have a minimum of a 3.7 GPA, and be recommended by his/her school (this includes homeschools).
- What types of internships are available? There are a wide variety of possible internships available. To the best of our ability we try to tailor the site to the student's interests. We have provided internships at over 300 different sites.
- Is there any cost to participate in the program? There is no cost to participate in the program. However, there may be costs, such as parking, associated with individual internships. Also, students from out of town may choose to live on campus during the summer program. There are costs associated with living on campus. - When will a student know if he/she has been accepted into the program? Normally within one month after a student has submitted their cover letter and resume, they will be notified.
