camp MAGIK

            Camp MAGIK, a healing camp for bereaved children and adolescents, is announcing its spring camps for 2018. our spring sessions will be held at camp high harbour in cartersville April 20- 22, 2018 and at the Fortson 4-H center in Hampton may 4-6, 2018. Applications need to be post marked, emailed, or faxed to us no later than April 11th and April 25th, 2018 respectively. we will provide free transportation to camp and back- if needed.
          Camp MAGIK is well suited to all youth who have experienced the death of a parent, sibling or other close loved one, especially youth who have experienced traumatic death. Professional bereavement counselors, trained in grief and trauma, lead all counseling sessions. My book about bereavement camps was recently published by routledge: goo.gl/3kMiT6
         There is also a retreat available for adults who want to process their own grief with other adults who are grieving-
         Our camp sessions are free of charge to all participating children and adolescents.

Colleges That Change Lives ( CTCL ), an non-profit organization dedicated to support a student-centered college search, announces its 2018 program locations. Our programs are designed to offer students, parents, and counselors a new perspective on college admission, to address some of the misconceptions about college admission, and to help students connect with representatives from CTCL- member college. Our program are free and open to the public. Mark your calendar and please share these with other who may be interested.

Summer 2018 Dean Stuart Feldman Summer Science Institute

The Application For Summer 2018 Dean Stuart Feldsman Summer Science Institute Is now available  at the University of Georgia, College of Pharmacy Website

Program Description:
The Dean Stuart Feldman Summer Science Institute is designed to provide an introduction and over view of the many career opportunities, which are available in the pharmacy profession. The six-day summer program exposes high school students to classroom and laboratory experiences, and provides components of what students should expect from the college experience.

Participants are expected daily and must participate actively in all facets of the program. Rising juniors and seniors in high school who are interested in sciences and pharmacy are encouraged to apply.

PROGRAM PARTICIPATION COST PER STUDENT IS $350.00
$200 Laboratory Fee
$150 Housing Fee
All other cost associated with the program is covered by grants, gifts, in-kind services, ans College of Pharmacy 

Scholarship is Available Based on Financial Need

Accepted students must participate in the program from June 3rd- June 8th, 2018

Program Overview:
  • College-level academic acticities
  • Site visits to research laboratory environment
  • Research teams project presentations
  • Guest presenters
  • Bar-b-Que with professors 
Recommendations:
Two Letters of recommendation are required.
  1. A school counselor or teacher
  2. A second person of your choosing
You should select individuals who know you personally and can speak to your academic ability, initiative, character, extracurricular involvement, and potential for leadership. 

Transcript:
In addition, you will need to arrange for your high school to submit a copy of your academic records.

Application for admission review process:
Please print and complete the application form in its entirety prior to the deadline date. Along with the application, tow letters of recommendation, and a copy of your transcript must be reviewed prior to the application review process. The deadline date for the application is April 6th, 2018 and all applications will receive notification of their admission status by the end of April.

Calling Metro Atlanta's Teen Leaders

Are you concerned about traffic congestion, air pollution, affordable housing, protection of green space, or the needs of older adults? Do you want to work with other outstanding metro Atlanta teens who are working to bring about change in our community?

If so, Model Atlanta Regional Commission ( MARC ) is for you! MARC is a free program for 10th and 11th graders who are interested in taking action to promote change in metro Atlanta.

Program dates 9 am - 3 pm ( except for September and February ):
